Types of cross-flow packings

 

New high performance cross-flow packed contact devices developed by Research and Production Enterprise (RPE) "VENTA" and R&D Institute "PEGAZ" can significantly intensify heat and mass exchange in rectification and sorption processes, to reduce pressure drop in the columns and increase efficiency by creating an optimal ratio of the specific vapor and liquid loads in the units.

 

 

advantages of cross-flow packed columns:

 

  • high efficiency of working in a wide range of vapor and liquid loads;
  • high performance;
  • low pressure drop – 1 mm Hg on the attachment module;
  • modular design that provides easy installation and maintenance;
  • organization of a multi-level selection of sidecuts and circulating refluxes, plate columns;
  • optimal density of the liquid irrigation due to independent cross-sections for vapor and liquid;
  • application of low-pressure film-type liquid valves at every stage of the contact;
  • flexibility of the structure, implementation of steam and liquid flows separation in the packed modules;
  • smaller volume of cross-flow packing compared to counter-flow packing manufactured by leading domestic and foreign companies (20-50 % of the cross-section of the column);
  • the actual service life of the cross-flow packing in the distillation columns exceeds 10 years.

 

On the basis of many years of practical experience of implemented devices in operating plants our specialists have developed a method of calculation of internal contact device. The most significant event in 2017 is supply of internal contact devices with total weight over 50 tons to three desulfurization units on Mubarek GPP, Uzbekistan. Capacity of gas purification has increased by 1.5 - 2 times compared to similar blocks where internal contact device of plate type are used.
